Cook Confirms State Grant for Six Towns in the 49th Legislative District
11/25/2019
HARRISBURG – Rep. Bud Cook (R-Washington/Fayette) announced today that six local municipalities have been awarded a grant totaling $40,000 from the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED).

The project will consist of updating the Mid Mon Valley Regional Comprehensive Plan, Mid Mon Valley Multi-Municipal Zoning Ordinance and the preparation of a subdivision and Land Development Ordinance for the boroughs of Allenport, Coal Center, Dunlevy, Elco, Roscoe and Stockdale in Washington County.

“This is great news for our local communities,” said Cook. “It’s great to see our local communities coming together and working regionally to make the 49th Legislative District a better place to live and work, while saving money and enhancing the service our local leaders provide to residents.”

Through the completion of this project, the boroughs will be able to improve their land use planning efforts by addressing the issues that are most relevant to the region. The plan will be implemented through the enactment of land use ordinances that are reflective of the current trends in the Mid Mon Valley.

The project was approved through the Municipal Assistance Program (MAP) of the DCED, which is designed to assist local governments with planning for zoning, coordinating emergency services and creating comprehensive plans.
