Cook’s Office to Hold PennDOT Flagger Safety Training
6/1/2021
BELLE VERNON – Rep. Bud Cook’s (R-Washington/Fayette) office will hold a safety training course for those interested in working for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) as a flagger. The one-day course will be held on Saturday, June 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 10 Main St., Belle Vernon. Bill Freed, a workforce training and credentialing coordinator with Pittsburgh Community Services Inc., will lead the course.

Able-bodied, safety-conscious people who are licensed and ready to work are needed for various building and road work projects. The $100 training fee will cover the training cost and union card cost. Graduates of high school are eligible for the training, and starting wages are around $16.50 with excellent benefits.

“I am happy to offer this course at my office,” said Cook. “We need to get the Commonwealth back to work and accessible workforce trainings are the first step. We can only be free through employment. We must work to earn our place.”
