Cook to Host ‘Solving the Opioid Crisis’ Community Forum
BENTLEYVILLE – Rep. Bud Cook (R-Washington/Fayette) is inviting concerned citizens from across the 49th Legislative District to join him on Thursday, Oct. 26, for a very important community forum with representatives from local treatment facilities, churches, support groups, and nonprofit organizations regarding the prevention and treatment of opioid addiction.

The “Solving the Opioid Crisis Community Forum” will be held at the Belle Vernon Fire Department, 10 Main St., Belle Vernon, beginning at 6 p.m.

“The prescription opioid and heroin overdose epidemic is without question the worst public health crisis in Pennsylvania and across the nation,” said Cook. “People of all ages, races and income levels are fighting against an addiction that has no socio-economic boundaries. The 49th Legislative District alone has an absolutely unacceptable drug overdose fatality rate. The purpose of this community forum is to bring together local experts, explore the necessary resources and evidence-informed strategies that have the greatest potential for solving the epidemic, and most importantly, leave with answers.”

Attendees will also hear from several individuals who have been personally impacted by the Mon Valley’s drug epidemic.

Seating is limited. Interested individuals should register for this FREE event as soon as possible by calling Cook’s Bentleyville district office at (724) 669-2242.
