Cook Supports Review of Pandemic Response
5/5/2021
HARRISBURG – Rep. Bud Cook (R-Washington/Fayette) stands in support of legislation authored by Rep. Clint Owlett (R-Tioga/Bradford/Potter) that would require an in-depth review of the Commonwealth’s response to the pandemic.

“Since March 2020, the Wolf administration has grossly mismanaged all aspects of the pandemic,” said Cook. “From the endless shutdowns to the mismanagement of personal protective equipment (PPE), Gov. Tom Wolf and his team have proved to all Pennsylvanians that they had no business being in power.”

House Bill 1264 passed by the House State Government Committee, would specifically require a review of the management of PPE and the administration of COVID-19 tests and vaccines. Administration officials would be required to submit a report to legislative leaders that includes a review of the number and types of COVID-19 tests, and the number and types of COVID-19 vaccines, administered to residents. A thorough review of PPE purchased or acquired by the Commonwealth or its agencies would also need to be provided.

“This administration provided no transparency to the Commonwealth and they must be held accountable,” Cook continued. “We all have questions about every aspect of the handling of COVID-19, and our answers are long past due.”

This bill will now be considered by the full House.
