Cook to Host Hard-to-Read License Plate Replacement Event
9/6/2023
HARRISBURG – To help residents dealing with illegible license plates on their vehicles, Rep. Bud Cook (R-Greene/Washington) is hosting a second event to help local residents get those plates replaced on Monday, Sept. 18, from  10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Greene County Fairgrounds, Building 8.

State law requires PennDOT to replace license plates that are deemed illegible at no cost to the vehicle owner. A plate is deemed illegible when one or more numbers or letters cannot be recognized from 50 feet away, typically due to blistering, peeling, discoloration, loss of reflectivity or other damage.

“It was clear after the first event we held last week, this is definitely a need in our community,” Cook said. “If you have a plate in need of replacement, I encourage you to come out to this event and we can help expedite the process for you. Thanks to Greene County Sheriff Marcus Simms for helping us provide this service to our community.”

Those who plan to participate should bring their unexpired PA driver’s license and current vehicle registration card.

Reservations are required and may be made by calling Cook’s office at 724-929-2660 or by signing up online at RepBudCook.com/Events
