Cook Announces More Than $375,000 for Area Parks
HARRISBURG – Building on the region’s many assets and attractions, Rep. Bud Cook (R-Greene/Washington) today announced more than $375,000 in state grants have been awarded to communities in the 50th Legislative District.
“Local parks and recreational areas are an important part of what makes our region a great place to live, grow and raise a family,” Cook said. “These projects are yet another reason why I encourage people to ‘Come Home, Go Big and Have a Ball’ here in the 50th District.”
The grant awards are as follows:
• Center Township, Greene County, was awarded $100,000 for rehabilitation of the community park. Work will include renovation of building, ADA access, landscaping and other related site improvements.
• Greene County was awarded $208,100 for further development of Wisecarver Recreation Area in Franklin Township. Work will include construction of an internal loop trail, boardwalk, pedestrian bridge and stormwater management measures, as well as ADA access, landscaping and other related site improvements.
• North Charleroi Borough, Washington County, was awarded $71,100 for rehabilitation of North Charleroi Park. Work will include installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing and utilities, as well as ADA access, landscaping and other related site improvements.
The funding was awarded through the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Community Conservation Partnership Program.
