Know Your Gun Rights: California Concealed Carry Seminar One Week Away

Our next Concealed Carry Seminar will be held on Thursday, Oct. 24, beginning at 6 p.m., at the California Hill Gun Club, 150 California Drive, Route 88, California.

Featured speaker Kim Stolfer, president, Firearms Owners Against Crime, will present the facts and answer questions about Pennsylvania’s concealed carry process; the Castle Doctrine; unconstitutional red flag gun confiscation laws—which were recently adopted in the City of Pittsburgh and also introduced in the state Legislature (House Bill 1075)—and other valuable information regarding firearms safety and state gun laws.

It is extremely important for those who are looking into obtaining a concealed carry permit or those who currently hold the permit to become fully informed regarding the constitutional rights they are blessed to have as an American gun owner. These no-cost seminars have become extremely popular, and I am pleased to be able to bring this learning opportunity to the citizens of California and surrounding areas.

Due to limited seating, interested individuals must pre-register for this FREE seminar as soon as possible by calling the Belle Vernon district office at 724-929-2660.

Mon Valley Moment: More Investing in Quality of Life Improvements

Thanks to a grant made possible by the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation, and in conjunction with the Rural Arts Collaborative and participating local school districts, Bentworth and Beth Center, the Marianna Outdoorsmen Association recently completed and installed artwork in several communities.

This week’s Mon Valley Moment features a tour of the various sites along the Marianna–Monongahela corridor in Washington County that have benefited from the generosity of the Benedum Foundation.

Once again, all of these projects were completed at zero cost to taxpayers!

Again, I would personally like to thank the Benedum Foundation for recognizing the value of our region’s Activities, Assets and Attractions, generously investing to improve our quality of life and supplementing our efforts to attract both employers and employees to the 49th Legislative District.

Hunters, Anglers Beware

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) and Pennsylvania Game Commission are warning anglers and hunters to avoid online scams when purchasing their licenses. The warning follows several recent reports of customers paying for licenses through third-party websites not affiliated with either agency and then never receiving a license.

Both agencies sell licenses and permits through The Outdoor Shop, a secure online portal. Using a third-party website may result in hunters and anglers losing money and potentially putting their personal information at risk.

When you purchase your fishing license from the PFBC through The Outdoor Shop, a printable electronic version of the license is issued immediately. Hunting licenses purchased through The Outdoor Shop are confirmed at the time of sale through an official email from the Game Commission and licenses are mailed to the buyer within two weeks of purchase.

Anyone who encounters a website offering the sale of a Pennsylvania fishing or hunting license that does not link to The Outdoor Shop to complete the transaction should call the PFBC Fishing License Help Line at 877-707-4085 or the Game Commission’s license division at 717-787-2084.

Victims of a fishing or hunting license scam should notify the Pennsylvania attorney general by completing a Scams Complaint Form here.

Dining Out?

A new app from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture is helping individuals and families make informed dining out decisions.

EatSafePA provides access to thousands of restaurant and retail food establishment inspection reports, including violations and inspector comments. Users can either enable their location services or manually search by restaurant, business name, city or ZIP code.

Pennsylvania restaurants and other retail food facilities are inspected when they initially open or change ownership, after a remodel, and once annually thereafter via an unannounced inspection. Inspections are also prompted by public complaints.

EatSafePA is available for free in the App Store and Google Play Store.
