Monongahela Valley Hospital to Receive $15 Million In Funding to Combat COVID-19, Cook Announces

April 30, 2020

HARRISBURG – Rep. Bud Cook (Washington/Fayette) announced today that the Monongahela Valley Hospital has been approved to receive $15 million in funding through the Hospital Emergency Loan Program (HELP), which provides short-term financial relief as hospitals combat the surge of COVID-19 cases in their area.

“This is excellent news for our district,” said Cook. “This funding is crucial to allow our doctors, nurses and those on the front lines of this pandemic to continue to provide quality care to our community during this difficult time.”

The loan was made available to the Commonwealth’s hospitals to provide immediate financial support for working capital to ensure that these facilities have sufficient personnel, equipment and personal protective equipment.

The funding was disbursed by the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) and is being administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) through the Pennsylvania First Program (PA First).
