Actions Constituents Can Take to Assist Cook’s Efforts to Address Election Irregularities
November 18, 2020
HARRISBURG – The Nov. 3 General Election brought thousands of phone calls, emails and social media messages to Rep. Bud Cook (R-Washington/Fayette) from concerned constituents who believe the results of the election to be illegitimate.
“The House Republicans are working hard to address concerns brought to us,” said Cook. “It is our top priority to ensure the election process was followed legally and that the results are accurate. We are taking every action possible to ease the minds of our constituents.”
Every legislative and legal tool at the hands of the House of Representatives is being used to ensure the rule of law and the integrity of the election. Steps that have been taken include:
• Speaker Bryan Cutler has sent a letter to Gov. Tom Wolf requesting a full audit of the election before the certification of any results, which must be done by Monday, Nov. 23.
• The House of Representatives has joined in on election-related litigation. This includes the U.S. Supreme Court case about the receipt and counting of ballots after Election Day.
• Rep. Seth Grove (R-York), interim chairman of the House State Government Committee, is working with its members and members of the Senate State Government Committee to review the 2020 election with the goal of making sure the process failures of this year never happen again.
Concerned constituents are encouraged to report any cases of suspected fraud or irregularities they personally experienced or are willing to swear an affidavit to. Compose a message including a brief description of the suspected fraud and personal information, including name, address, email and phone number, to 2020Election@pahousegop.com. Other things people can do include reaching out to the governor’s office to request an audit of the election and following along with progress made in the Senate State Government Committee.
“As the representative of the 49th District, where it’s always a great day, I am committed to fighting for we the people,” Cook concluded. “I will not let our constitutional rights that generations before us fought hard for be taken away. I will continue to hold our government responsible for transparency and accountability. Our citizens deserve to have a government on which they can count.”
