Highlighting Agriculture with expanding ‘Blessing of the Balers,’ Celebration

WHAT: Supporters of the state’s agriculture industry will gather at the state Capitol for the Third Annual Blessing of the Balers. The event is hosted by state Rep. Bud Cook (R-Greene/Washington) and helps draw attention to the state’s top industry. It also marks the annual celebration of May as Beef Month. Tractors and balers will be on-site for the event.

New this year, Rep. Jake Banta (R-Erie) will provide live entertainment. Student advisors from Cook’s district will be on hand, and there will also be free milkshakes. In addition, those planning on attending the ceremony can register on Cook’s website to receive a free burger.

WHO: Cook, Secretary of Agriculture Russell Redding and the Rev. Donald Wilson of Greene County will offer remarks. In attendance will be Pennsylvania Beef Council Board Chairman and Pennsylvania Cattleman’s Board Member Duff George; Pennsylvania Farm Bureau President Chris Hoffman; representatives from the Pennsylvania Pork Producers Council; representatives from the Pennsylvania Livestock Association; farmers and agriculture producers; lawmakers; and others.
