December 8, 2025

HARRISBURG – Rep. Bud Cook (R-Greene/Washington) celebrated Madeline Loring, a fourth grade teacher at Jefferson-Morgan Elementary School in the Jefferson-Morgan School District, for being named Pennsylvania’s Teacher of the Year.

The award, given through the National Teacher of the Year (NTOY) Program, honors PreK–12th grade public school educators who have made outstanding academic contributions to the Commonwealth’s school-aged children.

“This is a tremendous honor for Madeline,” Cook said. “We’re proud she has earned this recognition, and we’re honored to celebrate her as a remarkable example of the incredible educators we have here in the 50th District. Our children are the future, and teachers like Madeline are helping to shape that future every day.”

In winning the award, Loring was noted by the Pennsylvania Department of Education for demonstrating genuine warmth and care with each of her students, while simultaneously growing their academic excitement and success.

“We’re fortunate to have Madeline shaping young minds in the 50th District,” Cook said. “As an advocate for the power of a good education, I know great teachers like Madeline are laying the foundation for stronger communities and a brighter future.”

There were 523 nominations submitted for educators to be named Pennsylvania’s 2026 Teacher of the Year. Loring was one of 12 finalists for the award.

Loring has 13 years of teaching experience, including fourth grade mathematics, kindergarten, high school learning support, and life skills support. She is also a district leader at Jefferson-Morgan School District, providing professional development opportunities with other math department members and intermediate unit specialists.

As Pennsylvania’s Teacher of the Year, Loring will travel the state, meet and collaborate with other educators, and represent the Commonwealth in the 2027 National Teacher of the Year competition.
