Cook Says More Than $1.5 Million Coming to 50th District for School Safety, Behavioral Health Improvements

HARRISBURG – Rep. Bud Cook (R-Greene/Washington) announced several schools in the 50th Legislative District will be receiving more than a combined $1.5 million to make learning environments safer and provide behavioral health support for students and staff.

The grants were approved through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency’s (PCCD) School Safety and Security Committee.

“We understand that students are our future,” Cook said. “A school should be a place where students, staff and parents feel safe. This funding helps to continue to make that possible.”

The total amount awarded to each school or school district is as follows:

  • Carmichaels Area School District - $140,422.
  • Central Greene School District - $159,667.
  • Greene County Career and Technology Center - $70,000.
  • Jefferson-Morgan School District - $132,887.
  • Southeastern Greene School District - $124,594.
  • West Greene School District - $126,906.
  • Bentworth School District - $145,861.
  • Bethlehem-Center School District - $144,207.
  • California Academy of Learning Charter School - $70,000.
  • California Area School District - $141,551.
  • Charleroi School District - $160,981.
  • Intermediate Unit 1 - $70,000.
  • Mon Valley Career and Technology Center - $70,000.

The PCCD’s School Safety and Security Committee administers programs designed to improve school safety and security, strengthen behavioral health supports, and provide training and technical assistance to schools across Pennsylvania.
