Cook: More Than $1.5 Million Awarded for Community, Infrastructure Upgrades in the 50th

HARRISBURG – Rep. Bud Cook (R-Greene/Washington) today announced more than $1.5 million in Local Share Account (LSA) grants have been approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) to support local infrastructure improvements and community services.

Local Share Account grants are funded through gaming revenues under Act 71 of 2004 and are used to support economic development, community improvement and public interest projects.

“We’re happy to see this funding coming back to the 50th District,” Cook said. “This money is important because it helps address key needs in our communities.”

The approved projects in Greene County include:
• Carmichaels Borough – $254,307 for the first phase of a sidewalk improvement project.
• Freeport Township - $151,870 to purchase a dump truck.
• Jefferson Township - $529,888 for phase two of a project to upgrade the multipurpose community facility building.
• Perry Township - $488,015 to help replace a part of a bridge along Lemley Hill Road.

The approved project in Washington County is:
• Redevelopment Authority of the County of Fayette - $92,000, on behalf of Food Helpers, to repave the parking lot of the Greater Washington County Food Bank.

The Commonwealth Financing Authority is an independent agency responsible for administering state investments that support Pennsylvania’s economic growth and community development.
