Thursday’s meeting canceled after scheduled presenter withdraws
WAYNESBURG - Rep. Bud Cook (R-Greene/Washington) announced the cancellation of the informational meeting on data center development scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 29, at the California Borough Building.
The Pennsylvania Office of Consumer Advocate, one of the scheduled presenters, has canceled its participation, prompting the cancellation of the event.
“From the beginning, my goal was to provide residents with a fair and balanced discussion about data center development and what it could mean for our communities,” said Cook. “This is an important issue in the 50th District, and residents deserve the opportunity to hear different perspectives, ask questions and get the information they need to make informed decisions.”
Cook said the meeting was intended to offer a range of viewpoints on the potential benefits and drawbacks of data center development, rather than advocate for or against these projects.
“Residents should have access to a complete picture of this issue, including the economic opportunities, potential impacts on our communities and the concerns people have raised,” said Cook. “Providing that balanced perspective was the purpose of this meeting, and I want to make sure we stay true to that goal.”
Cook thanked the organizations that agreed to participate and reiterated the importance of ensuring residents have access to balanced information about data center development and its potential impact on communities throughout the 50th District.
