Cook Sworn In To Serve 49th Legislative District
Joined by my family, friends and supporters on Jan. 3, I was officially sworn in at the state Capitol to begin my first term in the General Assembly serving the people of the 49th Legislative District.
I am truly humbled to be the first Republican elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives since the 49th Legislative District was created in 1969. The House is now comprised of 121 Republicans and 81 Democrats, including 23 first-term members.
Also on swearing-in day, the House unanimously selected Rep. Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) as speaker of the House for the second consecutive session. The day also included certification of election results, election of the House parliamentarian and adoption of rules that will govern the chamber.
